Johan Baptiste Schweitzer Violin 4/4 Labelled – Joh. Bapt. Schweitzer – Dated 1813
A nice violin in good condition, especially for its age. One piece back of nicely flamed Maple, which is also apparent on the sides and neck. The front is of good quality fine grained Spruce.
We doubt that this is a genuine Schweitzer violin, probably a copy but a very worthwhile violin nevertheless.
Originally supplied to the previous owner by well respected Luthier, Martin Restall based in Hampshire.
The violin has been refurbished by ourselves. We’ve fitted new ebony pegs and re-profiled the fingerboard. Now fitted with a new set of Dominant Strings it’s a violin full of character, which just needs, “playing in”, to release it’s full potential. It comes with a good quality wooden cored case, which shows signs of wear – as you’d expect, but will last for years yet and provide good protection for this unique instrument.
The price reflects our suspicion that this is a copy, a real Schweitzer at auction would command three or four times our asking price.
