Vintage violin 4/4 outfit
Labelled Hoyer et Sohne.

Hoyer is mostly known now-a-days for it’s superb bows, but in the past have been a family of violin makers going back to the 1700’s. The label is hand written with a date of 1913.

We have refurbished this violin, fitted new pegs, bridge, tailpiece, with integral adjusters, and a new sound post. The back is two piece flamed Maple and the front close grained Spruce. There is some damage to the original varnish on the back, this has been revarnished in the past and it will not affect the sound or playability of the violin. Part of it's history and character. It’s fitted with a new set of Dominant strings.

By comparison to more modern violins it’s quite high arched and with these strings, quite a resonant instrument. Maybe not for the shy or retiring player. An excellent fiddle for sessions, where it’s hard to hear yourself.

It comes with an oblong case in excellent condition and a medium quality pernambucco bow, which is virtually new.

All in all a very characterful instrument that needs a new home, can you provide that?

We have priced this violin outfit at what we consider a fair price for such a unique instrument but could maybe be open to offers if you really think it’s for you.
